Personally, I would advice against wearing running shoes on badminton court for a number of reasons. Badminton is an action pack sporting activity. It is s very physical demanding team sport, you play in 1 pairs (singles) or 2 pairs (couples).
When we do a comparison between running and playing badminton you will observe that running uses a different groups of muscle from badminton.
Running
In running the main muscles includes the following
- quadriceps
- hamstrings
- glutes
- hip flexors
- calf muscles
Where as with
Badminton it involves a lot more. It is similar to swimming, which involves the whole body, in addition the player carries a racquet and shuttlecock.
So in a nutshell the Badminton player must be able to:
- Exhibit aerobic type abilities.
- Stamina - cannot tire too quickly
- Agility - You are bending, jumping, and moving from side to side.
- strength - need good upper muscles to hit the shuttlecock ball over the net.
- speed - must be pretty fast on his/ or her feet.
